Salted pack of "Hot springs for warmth"
Antibacterial effects of "Hot springs for cuts"

Hot springs with more than 1,000 mg of dissolved substances (excluding gaseous substances) in 1 kg of hot spring water, where the main component of the anion is chloride (chlorine) ion (Cl-).
Depending on the main component of the cation, it is classified as a "Sodium-Chloride springs", "Calcium-Chloride springs", "Magnesium-Chloride springs", and so on. The main component is salt, so the water tastes salty when drunk, and bitter when the salinity is high or the magnesium concentration is high. Among "Sodium-Chloride springs", the sodium ion concentration is 5.5g (5500mg)/kg or more, the chloride ion concentration is 8.5g (8500mg)/kg or more, or the magnesium ion concentration is 240mMg/kg or more, it is called a "Sodium-Chloride high salted spring". The "Kinsen (golden hot spring)" in Arima Onsen is a typical example.
The indications for the Chloride springs are Cuts, Peripheral circulatory disturbance, Sensitivity to cold, Depression, and Dry skin.
When you soak in a hot spring containing salt, the salt covers your body like a pack. This pack blocks the sweat glands (organs that secrete sweat), so the body temperature drops slowly after bathing, and the feeling of warmth continues for a long time. For this reason, Chloride springs are also called "Hot springs for warmth". Other types of springs may also be indicated for sensitivity to cold, but Chloride springs are considered to be more effective.
At the same time, the warming feeling that continues for a long time will help improve peripheral circulatory disturbance. This salt pack also reduces skin dryness after the bath due to the moisturizing effect of the coating of hot spring components.
After bathing in hot springs that remove dead skin cells, such as (Weak) Alkaline simple hot springs, Hydrogen carbonate springs, Sulfate springs, and Sulfur springs, which are so-called "Hot springs for beautiful skin", then bathing in "Chloride springs" are also called "Hot spring for finishing touch" due to their salt coating & moisturizing effects. When you visit hot springs with different spring qualities, please refer to the this information.
It is also called "Hot springs for cuts" because of the antibacterial effect of its salt content, which is effective against cuts and burns.
The indications for drinking this spring include Atrophic gastritis and Constipation, as it promotes the secretion of digestive juices in the gastrointestinal tract. Only "Chloride springs" and "Sulfate springs" have Constipation as an indication for drinking.
Until a few years ago, "Chloride springs" was the most common type of naturally gushing hot spring in Japan, but now, with the development of hot spring drilling technology, "Simple hot springs" has grown, and these two types of springs are competing for the top spots in the volume of gushes.
